This page is used for inputting the SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) server settings for the purpose of sending autoresponders, evites, and other email related messages from the client's Back Office to reps and customers.
You can access the Email Account(s) here:
Departments > Adminstration > Tools > Autoresponders > Email Accounts
Please note that Autoresponders sent through SMS may be blocked by certain service providers. If you want to use SMS a lot, it is suggested to use our preferred 3rd-party vendor for this service: ZipLingo.
Description: This field is used to provide a brief description or name for the SMTP configuration. You can enter any text that helps you identify the configuration later on.
SMTP server: Enter the SMTP server address provided by your email service provider. This information can usually be found in the documentation or support section of your email provider's website. Here are some examples for popular providers:
Gmail: smtp.gmail.com
Outlook.com: smtp-mail.outlook.com
Yahoo Mail: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port: Enter the port number for the SMTP server. The default port for SMTP is 25, but some providers may use different ports for secure connections. Common ports include:
Port 25 (non-secure)
Port 587 (STARTTLS)
Port 465 (SSL/TLS)
Check your email provider's documentation for the specific port number they recommend.
SSL Enabled: Specify whether SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is enabled for the SMTP connection. This determines whether your connection to the server is encrypted or not. Enter "Yes" if SSL is enabled, or "No" if it's not.
Username: Enter your email address or username associated with your email account. This is usually the same as your login username for the email provider.
Password: Enter the password for your email account. Make sure to use a strong, secure password to protect your account.
Threshold: This field may not be applicable for all email clients or setups. It's used to set a limit for the number of messages that can be sent within a specific time period. If your email client or software supports this feature, enter the desired threshold value. Otherwise, you can leave it blank.
From Address: Enter the email address you want to use as the sender address for outgoing emails.
From Name: Enter the name you want to appear as the sender's name in outgoing emails. This can be your own name or a name associated with your organization.
Reply To: Enter the email address where you want recipients to send their replies. This can be the same as the "From Address" or a different address.
CC (Carbon Copy): If you want to send a copy of all outgoing emails to another email address, enter the email address(es) in this field. Separate multiple email addresses with commas.
BCC (Blind Carbon Copy): Similar to CC, but the recipients in the BCC field will not be visible to other recipients. Enter the email address(es) you want to send a blind copy of the outgoing emails to, separating multiple addresses with commas.
Remember to save your SMTP configuration settings after filling in the fields.
Please note that the specific configuration fields and options may vary depending on the email client or software you are using. The instructions provided above are general guidelines, and you should consult the documentation or support resources of your email client for more precise information.
In some cases you may need to setup 2 Factor Authentication AND a specific "App Password" for the email address you intend to use to send AutoResponders from Freedom. This is the password you will enter into Freedom along with the related email address.
Below are two example cases we are aware of. If you run into difficulty following the instructions in any of the links below, please contact your IT Department or the respective companies.
